Why are humidifiers used more for heating than cooling?
By and large, when you want the comfort of cooling, it is spring or summer outside. In the geographic area that we serve (for more on our service area, click here), warm weather typically means higher humidity. Air conditioning in our area helps to reduce the humidity in indoor air, helping you to feel more comfortable.
Conversely, in the winter, moisture levels are usually much lower in the cold air. Furthermore, heating the air to comfortable levels in your home can drive out more moisture. Because of this, static electricity buildup and sinus sensitivities can become more apparant. The addition of a humidifier will put moisture back in the air and minimize these problems during the cold winter months.
