A June lightning strike in East Hempfield Township’s Pleasant View voting district will force voters to cast ballots at a new location Nov. 8.
The district’s traditional polling place — Brubaker Inc., 1284 Rohrerstown Road — is still under construction after a June 9 fire that left the building nearly in ruins.
Fire officials said the blaze was sparked by a lightning strike.
“The owners thought they could meet their obligations to have a polling place at their location, but they finally admitted that they just could not get it together,” Mary Stehman, chief clerk of the county elections board, told the board members Wednesday.
