Harvest Festival nets over $10,000 for the Hempfield Area Food Pantry
Today White House Chef John Moeller presented a check for $10,300.00 to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry.
The check was from the net proceeds of the Harvest Celebration which Brubaker Inc. hosted, along with the Lancaster-Hempfield Rotary Club back on Sunday October 27th. Chef Moeller was the featured speaker, along with various tasting menus of delights prepared by his State of Affairs Catering.
The event was a celebration of farm-fresh locally sourced food, flawlessly prepared and paired with local craft beers and wines. It also was a celebration of Chef Moeller’s new book, Dining At The White House: From The President’s Table To Yours. All attendants received an autographed edition of his book.
The check presented today was the largest single donation that the Hempfield Area Food Pantry has ever received, according to Food Pantry officials. They said that this contribution will provide enough food for over 300 families for at least 5 months.
Brubaker Inc. hosted the Harvest Celebration event, along with the participation of Lancaster-Hempfield Rotary and Life Reloaded Specialty Publishing, the publisher of Chef Moeller’s book.
The Hempfield Area Food Pantry serves the hungry living in the Hempfield School District area. The day-to-day operations of the pantry are managed by a dedicated group of volunteers. A board of directors, made up of volunteers from Hempfield area churches and civic organizations, oversees the overall operations, policies and direction, and volunteers. The Food Pantry has seen the number of families seeking assistance this year rise over 20%; this totals to over 700 people. This check presented today will be of considerable help to cover the vacuum left by grant reductions, in addition to helping the additional number of people seeking assistance.
Brubaker Inc. is proud to have been host and facilitator for this event that will make an impact in the lives of many people in the Hempfield area..
