A Glorious Day For A Harvest Celebration
On Sunday October 27th under a flawlessly sunny sky amidst the turning leaves of the oak trees, Brubaker Inc. hosted White House Chef John Moeller for a Harvest Celebration community fundraiser for the Hempfield Area Food Pantry.
Aided by the Lancaster-Hempfield Rotary Club and emceed by Lori Burkholder of WGAL 8, the event was a celebration of the bounty of the fresh food locally produced here. Everything was prepared by Chef Moeller and his staff from his State of Affairs Catering and paired with the best of local beers and wines.
The highlight of the event was John himself as he shared from his 13+ years in the White House preparing the freshest possible locally sourced meals for three First Families. In addition, the event was a celebration of the release of his book, Dining At The White House: From The President’s Table To Yours.
Proceeds from the admission charge will go to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry. The Hempfield Area Food Pantry serves the hungry living in the Hempfield School District area. The day-to-day operations of the pantry are managed by a dedicated group of volunteers. A board of directors, made up of volunteers from Hempfield area churches and civic organizations, oversees the overall operations, policies and direction, and volunteers. The Food Pantry has seen the number of families seeking assistance this year rise over 20%; this totals to over 700 people.
