Adopt-a-Highway litter cleanup 2017

Saturday April 22nd, 2017 greeted us with off and on mist and drizzle for the annual Adopt-A-Highway litter cleanup at Brubaker Inc. For a second consecutive year the wet, cool conditions and reduced number of participants did not deter us from having a good time and make our roadsides look a little nicer.

Adopt-a-Highway trash collection

The prize found this year was a bench seat from a van—in good condition.

Approximately two miles of roadway along Rohrerstown Road and McGovernville Road (PA Route 741) from Rohrerstown north to PA Route 283 were cleaned of litter and other trash. In about 3 hours we collected 14 bags of trash, including quite a few wheel covers, building materials, articles of clothing, bottles, fast food packaging, tobacco product packaging and many cans. The most interesting items collected were a bolt-down bench seat (in good condition) from a van and a drive shaft.

Who loses a bench seat, and how did it end up on the other side of the guardrail??

Many thanks to our employees who helped to make the roadway and neighborhood a little cleaner!
