Kitchen – 2012
Project LocationLancaster, PA
This unorganized kitchen needed an update and better design flow to make it more useful and efficient for the homeowners. By relocating some of the appliances we were able to make more effective use of the space and get the refrigerator out of the main work area. Semi custom cabinets gave the flexibility to add organization features like a message center, correspondence area and pull-out spice rack. Luxury vinyl tile flooring provides the look of ceramic tile, but with a softer, warmer feel. Neutral colors on the ceramic tile backsplash and quartz counters allow the homeowners to add pops of color with reds, greens and golds, adding a cheerful note to a now functional kitchen.
The 5th and 6th images show some of the organizational details we added. Our customer really wanted a message center to hide her little notes and keys. This was custom made by a combination of our cabinet company and our installation. It can be seen in the “before” pictures that the right side of the kitchen was scattered with papers, notes, etc. She really wanted to clean that up. We added pigeon holes (the open boxes under the center cabinet) for her mail and she is using the base drawer cabinet as her “junk” drawers. She has declared the left side of the kitchen (where the sink and range are) as off-limits for non-food storage.
