Bathroom – 2014
Project LocationManheim, PA
The second floor bathroom in this old farmhouse was awkwardly divided by a wall in the middle with a sink on each side. The clients wanted to open up the room, creating a larger, more flowing space. We removed the center wall and used custom, painted cabinets for the vanity and to construct a built-in hutch similar to a unit in the living room. We used shelving to match the vanity and hutch above the windows to mirror shelving above some windows on the first floor. Custom wooden tops on the vanity and wall cap by the tub add to the colonial country style of the house. The floor is, amazingly, vinyl. The clients wanted a wood look but without any concerns about moisture while exiting the tub or shower. Ceramic tile in a stone pattern brings an organic feel to the room. Beadboard around the room complements the rest of the house and brings the sense of belonging the homeowners wanted for their bathroom.
