On his annual work trip to Haiti Brubaker Inc.’s Doug Brubaker led a team of individuals from Lancaster, Phoenixville, and Harrisonburg, VA to work outside the town of Jeremie to build an FM radio station to broadcast from the far western portion of the Haitian southern peninsula. From March 5th through the 14th, the team, under the auspices of World Gospel Mission (WGM), erected a 120‘ tower and antenna, along with the relocation and installation of an existing FM radio facility to broadcast programming and information for Radio Lumiere, the national Christian Radio network of Haiti.
Partnering with the team on this trip again was Colonial Electric Supply of Lancaster, along with help from Fastenal of Lancaster. Many of the electrical components, panels, devices, and fasteners came from Colonial Electric and Fastenal.
The team arrived on the site of a relatively new church that was interested in hosting a Radio Lumiere broadcast facility. Radio Lumiere was more than glad to partner with them as this would provide for an updated broadcast facility, save having to pay rent as they do at their former location, and with the introduction of solar power provide more stable, consistent electricity while saving them monthly electric utility costs.
